Google Set to Launch New Core Web Vitals INP in 2024

Interaction To Next Paint
If you are interested in Core Web Vitals you probably noticed that FID (First Input Delay) is not a really relevant signal because it is almost approved on every website that you submit either in PageSpeed or GTmetrix to check your webiste performance.
Therefore Google announced they are launching a new Core Web Vitals as of 2024 called Interaction to Next Paint (INP). It will along with the other two Core Web Vitals parameters CLS and LCP. Cumulative Layout Shift and Large Contentful Paint are changing a lot from one site to another so More accurate to track performance and improve your SEO.
INP explore the latency of interaction each user has with a webpage and report a single value, it measure responsiveness of a website.
Fore webpage that have less then 50 interactions, INP will represent interaction with less responsiveness. For webpage with many interactions, INP will define by the 98th percentile of responsiveness latency
What is a INP Good Score?
Defining a responsive “good” or “poor” score is always tricky. You want to encourage good web performance and development practise and at the same time Each device as different latency to show result and visual content.
To ensure you are delivering a good responsiveness, Google threshold to determine if your INP is “good” is the 75th percentile of the page loads recorded in the segment across mobile device.
- INP below 200 milisecnodes means your page has a good responsiveness
- INP above 200 milliseconds and below 500 milliseconds mean that your page need improvement
- above 500 milliseconds means that your page has a “poor” responsiveness
